While "letter counsellors" were trained and the capacities were increased through the first year grant, it is concerned that the counsellors would face a "burn-out" accompanied by continued activities. Also, with society's rapid changes, the content of in-coming cases are diversifying. In order to meet such diversification and to help prevent "burn-out", the program need to improve quality of their "Self Care Program" a support program for letter counsellors and staff, including training at specialists. Will make a booklet on "Self Care Program" and distribute copies widely to the related organizations and groups.
2."Development of High School Volunteers Project"Org Name:MIYAGI Network for Children
With first year's grant, training for "telephone recipients" and two Child Line's" were implemented. The number of telephone calls increased each time, proving its high demand. This year, will promote high school students' social participation; create a scheme in which youths can provide "peer counselling "and help solve problems by themselves; and also develop a "volunteer group" to develop human resources to support and operate such a scheme. Will make a project report, focusing on training seminars for high school students, and distribute copies widely to related organizations and groups.
3."Development of Youth Careers Program"Org Name:NPO Inc. Collaborative Network for Cultural Learning
Will implement fieldwork and internships targeted at youths in their late teens to early 20's, including school absenting children, to cultivate a sense of career. While youths who are not certain what they want to do in life are increasing, opportunities where they can cultivate a sense of career and information on various job descriptions are lacking. The project is designed to respond to this situation. Will make a project report and distribute copies widely to related organisations and groups.
4."Youth Empowerment Project"Org Name:Network for the Convention on the Rights of the Child
Will develop a "Youth Empowerment Program" as a specific means to create a situation where youths can "participate" in different aspects of society. In order to accomplish above, will implement study seminars and youth camp through an executive committee that will include youths themselves. By gathering and analysing advanced cases in Japan through study seminars, and listening to youths' needs and experiences through camps, will develop a more effective and efficient program. Will make a project report and distribute copies widely to related organizations and groups.
