An Executive Summary: "Children's Hour"
in Japan

The Campaign

This summary looks at the success of Children's Hour in Japan, where a national campaign was launched in 1999 and continued through 2000. The two-year campaign raised over \40,431,806 from a variety of Japanese donors.
IYF and IYF-Japan are extremely grateful to those who contributed. Through their support, grants totaling \40,431,713 have been distributed to best practice programs in Japan, Mexico, and Thailand. These programs are actively addressing young people's needs for enhanced educational opportunities, conflict resolution and employment training, and productive after-school activities.

A number of those programs supported through Children's Hour in Japan are actively encouraging greater youth participation, educating young people about their rights, and equipping youth with the tools and resources to play an active role in "giving back" to their communities.

Globally, the campaign raised in excess of US$13 million. Information on IYF grants made through the global Children's Hour campaign can be found in IYF's 2000 Annual Report(available at www.iyfnet.org).
